Tom Schelker
Tom Schelker is a former carpentry teacher at the vocational school in Lenzburg, Switzerland. The trained interior designer not only prepares his students to pass the final exam, but also to develop their own solution strategies.

“Unfortunately, when you teach CNC theory, it's not something that people tend to remember. That's when I had the idea of using the Origin.”
In the fifth semester, CNC technology is on the curriculum. Schelker had previously tried to teach the basics in theory. However, little was retained in pure theory classes.
“With Origin, you can bring the technology to life, and understanding increases. The risk of accidents is minimal. Cutting theory can be directly applied and tested, and you can also feel the forces that arise live.”

“Origin is a reasonably priced and relatively inexpensive mini CNC router that can be integrated into teaching with a manageable amount of effort.”
The joy of learning
At the Lenzburg Vocational School's continuing education center, Schelker not only offers Origin courses for professionals, but also for beginners and hobbyists. The ambitious teacher naturally incorporates the experience he gains there directly into his teaching. His commitment to working with Origin also inspires his students, who regularly ask when they will finally be allowed to work with the machine from their first year of apprenticeship.
“So far, only students who enjoyed it and had a great learning effect. Of course, as a teacher, that makes it all the more enjoyable.”
