Shaper Origin is a handheld CNC router – a category of tool we invented almost a decade ago. It has the familiar form factor of a traditional router, with the precision of a high-end CNC machine. You steer Origin following the path on-screen, while it makes small “auto corrections” within a 1/2” range, leaving you with perfect results. Cutting a joinery, profiles or patterns, and engraving for signage can all be handled directly on-tool, no programming required. It also works with almost any design software you use. Yes, this bit will fit the ¼” collet that ships with Origin.
As a general rule of thumb for cutting wood, it’s best to never cut deeper than the diameter of the bit in a single pass. So for a ¼” bit, you should not cut deeper than ¼” in a single pass. Because every material is different, it’s best to perform test cuts to find the ideal pass depth and cut specs when working with a new material.
Resin, sap, and adhesives will build up on your cutter edge over time. This generates more friction on your cutter and accelerates edge degradation. Keep your cutters clean with a small brass brush, citrus cleaner and a rag.
The ¼” x 1” Up-Spiral Router Bit can cut to a maximum depth of 1”.
