Introducing Pacifica

12 October, 2026

Our 15th Free System Update adds new surface probing capabilities, enhancements to BenchPilot’s Adaptive Speed feature, introduces Sleep Mode to Origin, and makes selecting cut paths for BenchPilot faster.

Pen Tool Surface Probing

You can now lower the spindle while using the Pen Tool, making it easier to accurately trace existing marks on the surface of your material.

Install an engraving bit and lower the spindle until the tip of the bit is just above the material surface. You can then use the tip as a probe, following pencil marks or other reference points on your material as you draw with the Pen Tool.

Sleep Mode

Sleep Mode helps reduce power consumption by putting your tool into a low-power state after a period of inactivity. While in Sleep Mode, your tool’s screen and lights will dim, and deferred software maintenance tasks may run in the background.

You can choose how long your tool remains inactive before entering Sleep Mode. Head to the Settings menu and select an inactivity period of 10, 30, or 60 minutes. If you’d prefer your tool to remain awake, you can turn Sleep Mode off entirely.

To wake your tool from Sleep Mode, simply move it, press a button, or tap the screen.

Fast Select/Deselect Cut Paths in Pilot Mode

You can now select multiple cut paths for BenchPilot more quickly. While in Pilot Mode, go to Preview Cuts > Edit Selection to choose the paths you’d like BenchPilot to cut.

Hover over a cut path, then press and hold the Select button. While continuing to hold the button, move Origin over any other paths you’d like to add. Any cut path that Origin’s reticle passes over will automatically be added to your cut selection.

You can quickly deselect paths in the same way. Hover over a path that’s already selected, press and hold the Deselect button, then move Origin over other selected paths to remove them from your cut selection.

SM2 Speed Control for Adaptive Speed

The SM2 Brushless Digital Motor was introduced through a private beta program earlier this year. BenchPilot’s new Adaptive Speed feature enables automatic, dynamic adjustment of the motor’s speed during cuts.

When an SM2 Motor is connected to Origin, turning on Adaptive Speed will reveal an additional setting: SM2 Speed Control. With both Adaptive Speed and SM2 Speed Control enabled, BenchPilot will now automatically reduce the SM2 Motor speed while also reducing the feed rate as it approaches corners. This helps reduce the risk of burning as the tool moves more slowly through the corner.

Adaptive Speed was initially introduced to Origin’s BenchPilot Mode in the Oakland Free System Update and can be found in the Advanced Cut Settings menu while using Pilot Mode.

Final New Feature Update for Gen1 Machines

As announced with our Oakland Release, Pacifica will be the final System update with new features for Gen1 machines.

In order to dedicate our focus entirely to long-term stability and support we have now concluded new feature development for Gen1 machines.

Please rest assured that we will continue to monitor Gen1 for performance, and reliability and provide critical updates and maintenance to ensure the ongoing stability of Gen1 machines.
