General Questions

At first, not much will change. Your tools will continue to operate as they always have and the same great standard of service will be performed by our combined team across Shaper and Festool.

Shaper products will continue to be available through shapertools.com and participating dealers until October 31st, after which point there will be a period where only ShaperTape will be available for sale through Festool dealers and Festool.com. Shaper’s product lineup will officially move into the Festool portfolio beginning in 2027

Later this year on December 15th, we’ll also migrate Shaper accounts to MyFestool accounts. In all cases, Shaper customers will have advance notice on these changes and our aim is for as little disruption to your experience with the Shaper System as possible.

Shaper will continue to accept and fulfill any order placed today through October 31st, 2026.

Only ShaperTape will be available through Festool’s online shop from November 1st through the end of the year while we make this transition. We encourage you to stock up on other accessories you may need from Shaper, prior October 31st.

Unfortunately not through Shapertools.com, or through Shaper dealers. Beginning in 2027 Shaper’s product lineup will officially move into the Festool portfolio.

Yes, Shaper will honor its current 30 day return policy.

Accounts

Your Shaper account will automatically transition into a MyFestool account on December 15th, unless you mark your account for deletion. Rest assured that this migration will happen without losing access to licenses or files that are associated with your account.

On December 15th, 2026 you will receive an email guiding you through this process and simply be asked to create a new password for your account.

If your MyFestool and Shaper accounts use exactly the same email address, they will be automatically merged when the accounts are transitioned on December 15, 2026.

If your accounts use different email addresses and you wish to merge them, please visit my.shapertools.com/account and update your Shaper account email address to match your MyFestool account email address before December 15, 2026.

Nothing! Your design files and projects will stay exactly where they are, and you will continue to have access to them in your account, once you set a new password.

There’s no need to back anything up as we won’t be making any changes to your files, or projects. Once you complete your account migration by setting a new password, you will have access to all the same content that you had before. However, for anyone wishing to download their content before-hand, we will be implementing an option to bulk-download your files and projects prior to the migration. We’ll reach out to all users with more information on this as the account transition date approaches.

Right after migration, you’ll need to set a new password in order to complete the migration of your Shaper account to a MyFestool account. After this step you will be able to log in to Origin, ShaperHub, and Trace just as you do today.

Origin

Yes! Origin purchases made today, through October 31st from shapertools.com, are still backed by Shaper’s 30 day risk free trial program.

Great news! All Shaper Origin owners with an active warranty, will now get an additional year of coverage to match Festool’s standard three year warranty. To qualify, you must have registered your tool with Shaper (shapertools.com/register) or you must have an active Shaper Pro Care contract.

For customers with either an active warranty or an active Shaper Pro Care contract, your coverage will now expire three years after the original purchase date.

Any new Origin purchase made between August 1 and October 31st will be covered by Festool’s standard three year warranty.

We expect the full product lineup to be back in stock with Festool dealers beginning in 2027.

A limited number of Festool dealers will have stock of Shaper accessories after October 31st. ShaperTape will also be available through Festool’s online shop beginning this Fall in order to support Origin owners during this transition period.

Great news. While we migrate backend systems, all Shaper Origin owners who have not yet purchased Autopass will have access to an extended trial of Autopass through the end of 2026.

The SM2 beta program is slated to formally conclude on August 31, after which participants will still be able to keep and enjoy the SM2 Brushless Digital Motor.

Our plan is to continue offering Shaper Sessions on a twice-monthly-basis in the US and monthly-basis in the EU, through October of this year. Be sure to keep an eye on shapertools.com/sessions for upcoming shows.

Over time you’ll likely see changes to where Origin content like this lives, but we have no plans to remove it.

Studio & Trace

Yes! Studio will continue to be supported under the Festool brand.

Great news. While we migrate systems, all annual license holders with a renewal date between November 1st and December 31st, 2026 will receive free extended access to Studio during this time. You will receive notification of your new renewal date prior to the end of the year..

Yes your perpetual license will remain active and valid after October 31st – no change there. You will, however, need to update your account password once it transitions to a MyFestool account on December 15th, 2026.

Great news. If you do not yet have a perpetual or annual license to Studio, you will have access to Studio through an extended free trial between November 1st, 2026 and the end of the year. Simply login at studio.shapertools.com to begin using Studio.

Nothing will change with how you use Trace, other than on December 15th your associated Shaper account will transition into a MyFestool account, at which point you will be asked to update your password.
